Michael Jackson’s Ghosts is a 1996 short film starring Michael Jackson, co-written by horror novelist Stephen King and directed by film director and special effects guru Stan Winston which could also be classified as a long-form music video.

It was filmed and first screened in 1996 and released along with select prints of the film Thinner.

It was released as promo a year later internationally on LaserDiscVHS and Video CD. Jackson plays a total of five roles in the film.

The film tells the story of a scary Maestro with supernatural powers, who is being forced out of a small town by its mayor, pictured as a comically arrogant, plump man who bears more than a passing resemblance to Thomas Sneddon (the main prosecutor in Jackson’s infamous child sexual abuse case from three years earlier). The movie includes a series of dance routines performed by Michael Jackson and his “family” of ghouls. Every song from the film was taken from Michael Jackson’s albums: HIStory: Past, Present and Future – Book I and Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix.

THE STORYLINE OF THE GHOSTS FILM SUMMARISED BY WIKIPEDIA:

Plot[edit]

The front gate opens, frightening the townspeople, who make their way to the front door, which also opens by itself. The inside of the mansion appears to them even creepier than the outside, and the parents re-assure their children (and themselves) “there’s no such thing as ghosts”. They make their way into the house, and once they are all inside, the front door slams shut and locks itself. Two more large doors swing open revealing a large, darkened dance hall. Hesitantly, the townspeople make their way to the dance hall, where they are greeted by Maestro himself, who makes a scary yet comical entrance.

The Mayor angrily confronts him, calling him “strange”, “weird”, and a “freak”, and telling him that he’s not welcome in their town. Maestro defends himself, and in response the Mayor threatens “Are you going to leave, or am I going to have to hurt you?”

(The townspeople appear not to be as forceful in their position, but don’t offer an objection).

The Maestro (Michael Jackson) lives alone in a creepy-looking mansion on top of a hill, overlooking the town of “Normal Valley”. Occasionally, he entertains the local children with scary magic tricks. One of the children tells his mother, who alerts the Mayor (also Michael Jackson). He in turns organizes the townspeople to go to the Maestro’s mansion and force him out of town. Some of them show reluctance to do so, but are pressured into joining the Mayor on his crusade. On a stormy night they go to the Maestro’s mansion (which instead of a numbered address, is addressed “Someplace Else”) holding flaming torches.

When they arrive at the mansion, it is guarded by a large gate. They peer in through the gate, and by the haunting look of the mansion, have second thoughts about entering. The children assure the parents that the Maestro has done nothing wrong, and ask that they leave him alone. But the mayor remarks, “He’s a weirdo. There’s no place in this town for weirdos.”

To this Maestro replies, “You are trying to scare me. I guess I have no choice; I guess I have to scare you.” He then makes a series of funny faces, which the mayor calls “ridiculous” and “not funny”. In a change of tone, Maestro asks, “Is this scary?” and pulls his face sideways. Then he continues to stretch his face more by pulling his face down and stretches his mouth, and ultimately pulls off his face to reveal his skull and laughing maniacally. The frightened townspeople run for the doors, which Maestro shuts with his magical powers, after he smashes his skull with his fists, revealing his normal head. One man with glasses and black hair starts to cry after the doors have been shut.

Maestro then reminds the mayor he’s not alone, and introduces his “family” of ghouls who, along with Maestro, perform extended dance routines to 2 Bad and Is It Scary (both original songs composed by Michael Jackson) which alternately impresses and scares the townspeople.

During this sequence, Maestro’s acts include ripping his clothes off to reveal a skeletal body; possessing the mayor and making him dance (including the moonwalk); and transforming the mayor into an evil, horrific dragon while remarking, “Who’s scary now? Who’s the freak now? Freaky boy! Freak, circus freak. Who’s scary?”

After Maestro’s performance ends, he asks, “Do you still want me to go?”. While the townspeople respond “no”, the mayor says “Yes…yes!”. Maestro quietly agrees by saying, “Fine…I’ll go.” He falls, and after smashing his hands and face into the floor, his face and body violently start to crumble into dust on the floor, which is then blown away by the wind.

The townspeople are saddened by this, and somewhat sorry to see him go. The mayor however thinks he has come out victorious and heads for the doors saying, “I showed that freak.” When he opens them he finds a monstrous-looking Maestro-demon head which says “HELLO” and terrifies him, and he runs away scared (leaving a comically Mayor-shaped hole in the glass door).

The townspeople then turn back to the now open front doors to see the Maestro standing there, laughing. He asks if they all had a good time, and the townspeople realize they did. They figure he isn’t so bad after all and make peace with him. The story ends with one of the children asking with a vicious look on his face, “Is this scary?”; he grips his lower face, and the camera moves to a long shot of the mansion while terrified screams are heard.

During the credits, backstage footage of Jackson’s make-up sessions and green screen shots reveal how he was able to play five different roles within the film; indeed, the Cast list credits him as “Maestro”, “Mayor” (which explains the mayor’s impeccably Jacksonian dance moves), “Mayor Ghoul” (the horribly transformed mayor), “Super ghoul” (a giant and grotesquely deformed version of Jackson) and “Skeleton” (a CGI dancing skeleton, animated by Jackson through motion capture). The Film also uses a young Michael Jackson from the time he was in The Jackson 5.

THE JUDGEMENT OF THE SOUL: GOD´S MIRROR CONFRONTING THE SELF

Archangel Michael plays a very central role in the enforcement of God´s will and judgement process for souls. If you do too much wrong and hurt innocent souls with malice especially- any by human beings told stories of spiritual judgements of souls after passing is a mere superficial harmless description. Michael shows in his Film GHOSTS a good example of how it looks when he depicts the “Master of Ghosts”- a very creative and modern portrayal of the ancient Egyptian Osiris, which he produced and financed all himself.

Here comes the Archangel Michael element in, connecting the dots and showing the parallels between Osiris, the Judge and King of the Dead, and Archangel Michael, the Judge and King of the Archangels. Osiris was a human incarnation thousands of years ago, the Archangel Michael is the soul beyond all this and Michael Jackson as well.

THE STORYLINE OF THE THINNER FILM SUMMARISED BY WIKIPEDIA:

Plot[edit]

Billy Halleck (Robert John Burke) is an arrogant, obeseupper-class lawyer living with his wife Heidi (Lucinda Jenney) and their daughter Linda (Bethany Joy Lenz).

Billy recently defended an underworld crime boss named Richie “The Hammer” Ginelli (Joe Mantegna) in court.

The town is in the middle of a carnival, which is run by gypsies whom the town seems to have prejudices against.

While driving one night, Billy accidentally runs over an elderly gypsy woman named Suzanne Lempke (Irma St. Paule) with his car.

The death is ruled accidental, and no charges are filed against him. Suzanne’s 108-year old father, Tadzu Lempke (Michael Constantine), who is outraged by this, curses Billy by touching his face and saying the word “thinner”.

Billy begins to lose weight rapidly, regardless of how much he eats. Heidi, concerned, brings in Dr. Mike Houston (Sam Freed), with whom Billy thinks perhaps his wife is having an affair.

It is revealed that the man also cursed Judge Cary Rossington (John Horton) and Police Chief Duncan Hopely (Daniel von Bargen), who helped him avoid punishment in court. Judge Cary’s curse was “Lizard”; he is now growing scales all over his body, eventually heading to the Mayo Clinic for help. His wife, Leda (Elizabeth Franz), furiously blames Billy for what is happening to Cary. Duncan becomes mutated with large boils and ends up committing suicide.

Billy continues to lose weight and calculates that he only has a couple weeks to live.

Because only Lempke can remove the curse, Billy intends to search for the gypsy carnival but learns it has moved.

When Heidi continually mentions Dr. Houston, who is also repeatedly visiting their home, Billy is convinced of her affair and vows vengeance. He finds the gypsy camp and tries to reason with Lempke, but the old gypsy king is unconvinced, and forces Billy to leave after Lempke’s great-granddaughter Gina (Kari Wuhrer) uses her slingshot to shoot a large ball bearing at Billy which goes directly through his hand. After being informed that Cary committed suicide, Billy enlists Richie Ginelli’s help; Richie pays a local man named Frank Spurton (Josh Holland) to track down the gypsies and himself kills off the gypsy camp’s dogs. Gina and her husband Gabe kill Frank in retaliation.

In a vengeful response, Richie opens fire on the gypsy camp before pushing Gabe out into the open to be accidentally shot by his fellow Gypsies. The next day, Richie lures Gina away to kill her but Billy stops him. While balancing acid on Gina’s forehead, Richie gives her a message for her great-grandfather to meet them in two hours.

Lempke arrives at the meeting, finding a very thin and sick Billy. Convinced that only by lifting the curse can he prevent further attacks on his people, he explains that he cannot remove the curse but it can be transferred to another. He mixes Billy’s blood into a strawberry pie while chanting a gypsy spell. He states that the pie must be consumed by an unsuspecting person causing painful but rapid death, but he urges Billy to die with dignity by eating the pie himself. Billy calls home and speaks with his daughter to explain that he will be home in a few days. He also urges Linda to spend the night at her friend’s house so that he and Heidi may have the evening to themselves. When he arrives home he tells Heidi that he has a surprise for her which happens to be her favorite, strawberry pie. He tells her to have a piece which she delightfully accepts while he heads to bed, exhausted.

The next morning, he awakes to find Heidi’s desiccated corpse next to him. Initially gleeful to be free of the curse and of his disloyal wife, he goes downstairs and finds to his horror that Linda, who came home the night before after he went to bed, had eaten some of the pie for breakfast. His guilt compels him to take Lempke’s suggestion to eat a piece himself. As he is about to do so, Dr. Mike arrives. Mike is surprised to see that Billy has come home and becomes a bit uncomfortable at the situation and makes excuses to be there so early in the morning. Billy invites him in to share the pie with him, which Dr. Mike accepts. The ending shows Billy closing the door with an evil smile as Dr. Mike enters.

IS THIS SCARY?- Song Lyrics Additional Linked Same Message by Michael Jackson-

“Is It Scary?”

There’s a ghost out in the hall
Theirs a goul beneath the bed
Now it’s coming through the walls
Now it’s coming down the stairsThen there’s screaming in the dark
Hear the beating of his heart
Can you feel it in the air
Ghosts be hiding everywhereI’m gonna be
Exactly what you wanna see
It’s you whose haunting me
Because you´re wanting me
To be the stranger
In your lifeAm I amusing you
Or just confusing you
Am I the beast
You visualised
And if you wanna to see
Eccentrialities
I’ll be grotesque
Before your eyes Let them all materialise! Is that scary for you baby
Am I scary for you oh
Is it scary for you baby
Is it scary for youYou know the stranger is you
Is it scary for you baby There’s a creak beneath the floor
There’s a creak behind the door
There’s a rocking in the chair
But nobody sitting there
Their’s a ghostly smell around
But nobody to be found
And a coughin’ and a yawnin’
Where restless soul’s spoke

I’m gonna be
Exactly what you gonna see
So did you come to me
To see your fantasies
Performed before your very eyes

A haunting ghostly treat
The foolish trickery
And spirits dancing
In the light

But if you came to see
The truth the purity
It’s here inside
A lonely heart

So let the performance start

Is that scary for you baby
Am I scary for you oh
Am I scary for you baby
Am I scary for you
So tell me is it scary for you baby
So tell me is it crazy for you baby
Am I scary for you

You know the stranger is you
Am I scary for ya

Masquerade the heart
Is the height of hurting souls

Just not what you seek of me
Can the heart reveal the proof
Like a mirror reveals the truth
See the evil one is you!
Is that scary for you baby
Am I scary for you oh
Am I scary for you baby
Is it scary for you
So tell me am I scary for you baby
Am I scary for ya baby
Is is scary for ya baby
Am I scary for you
I don’t wanna talk about it!
I don’t wanna talk about it!
I don’t wanna talk about it!
I don’t wanna talk about it!
Am I scary for you baby
Am I scary for you
I’m tired of being abused
You know you’re scaring me too
I see the evil is you
Is it scary for you baby
